		<abstract>The present work evaluates and compares the performance of three algorithms for polygonal modeling of 2D shapes. One of the algorithms examined has been previously proposed by the authors and operates in a sequential fashion along the border of the object to be modeled. The other methods, extracted from the literature, work iteratively and therefore require an initial approximation to start operation. Results show the proposed algorithm to be much faster than the others, while presenting an equivalent performance in terms of approximation error and complexity of the model produced.</abstract>
